TORSO 1/2021 IS LOOKING FOR YOU! 🔥 Are you an A TORSO 1/2021 IS LOOKING FOR YOU! 🔥
Are you an Aalto ARTS student? Do you or your friends create or are interested in something that you consider underground // alternative // different? Do you want to contribute to this coooool magazine of ARTS by ARTS?

The theme for the next publication of Torso will be “UNDERGROUND” - a term to describe various alternative cultures which either consider themselves different from the mainstream of society and culture, or are considered so by others.

For the next zine, we are aiming to give a small shoutout to subcultures. Music, dance, radio stations, clothing, etc. That’s why we’re calling for contributions from our ARTS community: ⚡Don’t hesitate to make an article, photograph, illustration or any kind of visualisation about this theme and get it published in Torso Magazine’s next zine! ⚡It can be a full article or just a visual element of anything you think could suit this theme. Of course it can also be any artwork or writing around this theme. This is open to all ARTS students!

The outcome!!! As a part of the theme, the first issue of Torso magazine 2021 is going to be a ZINE. A small budget publication about the size of A5 (148 x 210 mm).

⏰ Deadlines:
14.3. Contact us with the ideas
28.3 Ready materials
Zine out in early April

Send us a direct message at @torsolehti or our Facebook, or our gmail: bosstorso@gmail.com. Contacts via @tokyo_aalto_arts will be directed to Torso editorial team.

“The disaster that was 2020 is finally over, Torso 1/2020 is finally out, and it's theme, BURNOUT, could not be any more perfect for our times. When we decided almost a year ago that we wanted to make a magazine about stress, anxiety and exhaustion, we didn't know that we were about to run into a global pandemic. After all the struggle, when everything was ready and we thought nothing could possibly go wrong anymore, our hot off the press magazines got quarantined at one of our editors’ homes, who got positive corona results that same week.
Thank you to all our amazing contributors for your beautiful work, understanding and patience. It’s been a hard year, but we got there.” - TORSO team
✨Meet our ARTS magazine - TORSO✨ TORSO is the ✨Meet our ARTS magazine - TORSO✨

TORSO is the publication of ARTS, which is published by Aalto ARTS Students Associations TOKYO four times a year.

Where is it now this year? We have a letter from TORSO team:

“The disaster that was 2020 is finally over, Torso 1/2020 is finally out, and it's theme, BURNOUT, could not be any more perfect for our times. Can’t wait any longer, we at TOKYO are bringing BURNOUT to Väre today. Stay tuned! 🌈

Hey! ☻ My name’s Juan and I’m this year’s Hey! ☻ My name’s Juan and I’m this year’s TOKYO Chair. I’m a 1st year student in ☙ Contemporary Design ☙ and I come from Colombia ☼

I like fruit, music and petting other people’s dogs. I also love reading and watching movies so I appreciate ☆ any and all recs ♪ that you wanna send my way. One of my favorite things about coming to Finland is how it has helped me feel a lot closer to nature, so walks in the forest are also one of my favorite things.

I wanna help bring ARTS together and I hear that it used to feel a lot more like a community back in the day. As Chair ♔ I’m in charge of overseeing all the sectors that are a part of TOKYO, as well as acting as a bridge between the School and other student associations. It sounds very serious ☹ but it’s pretty cool! Mainly because everyone is super nice ♥ and eager to help and work together.

Let me know if you need anything or just wanna chat ☻☻☻
Hello hello! I’m Rūta, the Vice-Chair of TOKYO Hello hello! I’m Rūta, the Vice-Chair of TOKYO. I come from a beautiful country of Lithuania, but I’m enjoying my life here in Helsinki sooo much.☃️

I study Collaborative and Industrial Design, and *collaborative* is the key word for me, since I love working with people.🤝

I also like bringing some structure to a chaos and that is exactly what I do here at TOKYO.🌀
Working together with our amazing chair @juanc.gv we make sure that things run smoothly, everyone is on the same page and having fun!

Belonging to a community is important for me personally, so my goal for this year is finding ways to keep the community of Aalto ARTS alive. If you have ideas about that, or just wanna chat about stuff - hit me up! (But a smile and a “hi” on campus will be also very much appreciated!)🤍🌿
Bonjour! I’m Apolline, freshly arrived from Fr Bonjour!

I’m Apolline, freshly arrived from France in September for the Contemporary Design Master. I’m this year’s New student responsible!

I can say that I fully fill the cliché of the Parisian: I love cheese, wine and I’m grumpy in the metro. Except in a crowded metro, I’m friendly, easy-going, and always up to try new stuff! I like to spend my free time cooking and my aim of the year is to become a Muay Thai champion, so all I have to do is to register somewhere I guess.

As a New Students responsible I’m gonna be in charge of the welcome of all the new students in ARTS! But also responsible to arrange tutor recruitment, training for them, and be sure that through all the year every tutor feels that they have the right tool tools to help new students!

Feel free to contact me for any kind of questions related to school, cooking, wine (and maybe wait a bit before questions about boxing, I’m not on point yet)...
🌞🌸Hi, I'm Rūta, also responsible for the co 🌞🌸Hi, I'm Rūta, also responsible for the communications. 🌞🌸✨

🍀 I'm a Creative Sustainability design student, passionate about social design, entrepreneurship, sexuality education, and graphic design.

My all-time favorite activities are creation of ideas and laughing. 💥 You will probably get to know my laugh before even meeting me. 🙉

In my free time, you can find me in a garden 🍅🥦, in a stadium, dancing to NTS radio, cooking Latvian or Asian food or drawing strange cats. 🤸‍♀️

For the following year I have 2 goals: to create TOKYO's communication strategy, and to learn sailing 🌊 ⛵.

For any coms collaboration ideas contact me on IG or Telegram @rutajumite. Or, if you see me on the campus, feel free to come and say hi! 🌸
