Helloo! I'm Linda, the chair of TOKYO for 2020. I Helloo! I'm Linda, the chair of TOKYO for 2020. I study Contemporary Design, and I'm still in the process of finishing up my bachelor's in design.

Whoo-eey what a year it has been! The chair is there to support and help to organise events of TOKYO, this year there has been less cleaning and carrying things than I anticipated, but even more challenges with remote mode and meta working. As the chair I've been responsible of arranging the meetings, keeping in touch with other associations, AYY, and the faculty of ARTS and Aalto University. Chair is usually the one representing TOKYO and the whole ARTS student perspective in different events and discussions with the faculty and leaders, but no pressure! Everyone's been super supportive and welcoming :D

I've had a priviledge to get to know and work alongside with driven, talented, creative, and passionate people from whom I have learned heaps from. I've learned about leadership, project management, communication inside and outside association, and have had a sneak peek to how this boat named Aalto ARTS is being steered and powered. I've also learned crucial life-skills, like to ask for help when I need it and to show vulnerability, and these are just few examples of the things that will stay with me forever.

Being a part of this inspiring community and achieving things together has been the most important part of my chair year. The support and love given and received have really had a huge impact in my life, and I hope that we have been able to radiate that also to our members!

If you are interested in this position, to inspire your peers, have your ideas and thoughts heard in the school, and get on a wild rollercoaster ride, I can wholeheartedly recommend becoming the Chair for 2021! I can't believe the year is almost at and end and I can guarantee that next year in TOKYO will also be full of amazing people, great opportunities and unique experiences!

If you want to ask me anything about TOKYO, the board positions and/or what is it like being a chair of TOKYO, or what ever comes to your mind, send me a message and let's have a chat! ❤

Hei! I’m Wen, Vice-chairperson of TOKYO 2020👋 Hei! I’m Wen, Vice-chairperson of TOKYO 2020👋🏼 I moved to 🇫🇮 from Singapore to do my Masters in Collaborative and Industrial Design.

As Vice-chair, I see my role as a facilitator and manager, both within the board and outside of it 🤝 I work closely with the Chair to facilitate board meetings, and ensure our projects are running smoothly across different sectors. In our year, the Chairs each oversaw a few sectors. I chose Advocacy and Corporate Relations, so I’ve also been working a lot with @jelske_ven and @ve.ra.ge 🧡

Since TOKYO is the student association for the entire School of ARTS, I also act as a bridge 🔗 between ARTS student associations, students and staff, such as by organising monthly meetings with the Deans and other student association chairs. But ultimately, the Vice-chair role is up to you to define ✨ If you have a specific passion project in mind, you can make that your thing too!

Board work hasn’t always been easy, but it’s definitely meaningful! The best part for me has been communicating about student concerns to the administration, and effecting some positive changes for students💪🏼 It has also helped me get right into the ARTS community, meet amazing people💞, understand “how things work” in a university across all levels, and grow as a leader, communicator and friend 🌱

Do you have good organisational skills? Want to be a bridge between students and the university administration?
📌Apply here: tinyurl.com/tokyoboard21

Hello!🌸 I’m Vera 🧚, a second year bachelor Hello!🌸 I’m Vera 🧚, a second year bachelor student in Design. Right on my first year of my studies, I jumped to the role of TOKYO’s responsible for Alumni and Corporate Relations..🙊 It has been one of the best decisions during my time in Aalto, and let me tell you why:

What initially sparked my interest in this role was my passion for providing more opportunities for TOKYO’s talented members👏 I wanted to bring the companies closer to our students and show them our potential 🌟 This role has so many opportunities for creating new forms of collaborations and bringing an aspect of working life to your studies.

In addition, I have surely been able to bring my creativity to this role!🧩 This year for example, we launched a mentoring programme for arts students and startups. Currently we are working on a remote excursion that will be in a form of a workshop. Ideating and creating new ways to include our partners is rewarding and fun!🥳

I think this is a great way to learn about the life that awaits outside of University, and a chance to embrace and prepare yourself for those opportunities. Also, through this role I've had a chance to meet and connect with some truly amazing and inspiring people from different fields🧡

If you have a curious mind and a brave heart, and you want to be a part of shaping the future for our students, please reach out to me! Let’s meet up over some coffee ☕️ and pulla 🍪, or go for a little Autumn walk 🌬🍂✨ I’m all there for you to answer your questions!
