Forget plastic wrap!

Take a look at a novel eco-friendly way of packaging cucumbers called @dip.wrap

Just dip the cucumber in their bio-based liquid, and it will be protected by a biodegradable, protective film! It will also help to keep the cucumber fresh for longer 🥒

As part of @aaltochemarts DipWrap was developed by a multidisciplinary team of Ena Naito (MA Design @aaltoarts), Louise Kallai (MA Chemical Engineering @aaltochem), Emilia Ikävalko and Sari Kupiainen (BA Chemical Engineering), who will be representing Aalto University at the international Biodesign Challenge Competition next week.

Over the previous 3 months Han and Darren, designers at Aalto Startup Center, have been interviewing both design students, and startups:
26 interviews = 800 post-it notes = 34 representative statements.

✽ Šaltibarščiai (cold beet soup) ✽

Ingredients (4-5 servings)

⁃ 500g pickled grated beets
⁃ 1l kefir/buttermilk
⁃ 1 long cucumber
⁃ handful of dill
⁃ handful of spring onions
⁃ 4-5 boiled eggs (optional)
⁃ salt, to taste

For serving: potatoes, boiled, roasted, however you like

Instructions:

Dice the cucumbers, chop the onions and dill, dump them in a big bowl with grated beets.
Pour the kefir/buttermilk over the veggies, flavor with salt. You can add some sour cream if you want it thicker or some milk if you want it to be more liquid. Let stand for several minutes.
Pour the soup in the bowls, add the cut boiled egg.
The cold soup is served with potatoes, usually boiled, but you can cook it however you like them best.

Enjoy this refreshing pink thing during a warm day as people do in Lithuania! ( Also Poland, Latvia, Russia and some other countries I’m sure.)

Hello ARTS! Whats goin on with you all? Come join on us on What's going on ARTS? -session next week and share your thought, ask questions and discuss about everything that is going on around campus with faculty, staff and other students! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There will be faculty from LES, IT, ARTS Spaces and of course the Deans answering questions about everything that is going on! We will ahve discussion on these topics:
SISU, Summer Courses, Mental Health, COVID Updates, Autumn period and workshop space usage. General questions are also welcome. So Join us next Tuesday!
